Muirkirk community programme
Practical help. Shared skills. A place to start.
Community sessions, volunteer learning and the next steps we want to build with local people.
Starting here, building together
Useful work, with room to grow.
We are seeking partners and agreements, and working with community organisations to move proofs of concept into manageable trials. Our aim is useful local services, opportunities to build skills and, over time, sustainable paid local work.
We cannot promise to do everything or achieve every aim. We can start with useful work, be open about where things stand and build from there. Local ideas, questions, concerns and offers of help are welcome.
Community sessions from November
From November 2026, Ian plans to run two sessions a month in Muirkirk, alternating drop-ins and workshops at the HUB with talks and training at the community rooms. Sessions will cover general technology help, practical training and security awareness. Exact dates and times will be published once confirmed.
For session enquiries, volunteering, ideas or an initial partner conversation, contact ian@muirkirk.info.
Secure online requests are still awaiting the pilot launch checks. Please keep report details, photographs, passwords and sensitive personal information out of an initial email.
A fixed base for drop-ins
Once we have a fixed location, drop-ins will be available there. Talks and training will continue at the HUB or community rooms, with a monthly programme planned at that stage. Drop-in availability will be published when the location and staffing arrangements are settled.
More support, as resources allow
If the HUB or community rooms can donate facility time, or choose to become more involved, we will increase provision in line with the people, time and resources available.
Learning and volunteering
We hope to begin informal volunteer training during autumn and winter. We want to work with colleges and other organisations towards agreed work placements and vocational qualification routes. Those are aims to develop with partners, not confirmed placements or accredited courses.
Practical, creative, digital, administrative and people-facing contributions all matter. Tell us what you enjoy, what you can share and what you would like to learn.
Local people: get in touch
You might want help, have a skill to share, be interested in volunteering, or represent an organisation that could help us take the next step. You do not need a finished proposal.
Email Ian with an idea, question, concern or interest in taking part.
